Astrid Lindgren and Her View on Humanity

“I thought you knew, that I do not care for all the categorizing of humans due to nationalities and races, all the kind of discrimination between white and black, between Arians and Jews, between Turkish and Swedish, between men and women. Ever since I was old enough to think independently I have felt disgusted by the blue and yellow, by the motherland of the great nation Sweden, by all the kinds of thinking like ‘if someone gets to close to our mountains up North, then the sky will fade in Svitjod’, I consider it as disgusting as Hitler’s German nationalism. I have never been a patriot. We are all humans – that has been my very much special emphasis on patos throughout my life.”–Astrid Lindgren, world renowned author for children’s books.
